House of Light

Painted on the side of a disused Mecca Bingo hall in the Holmeside area in Sunderland, the House of Light mural is based on a local legend - according to the tale, the Roker Pier lighthouse is run by a keeper who bottles lightning and stores moments of happiness. 

The House of Light is a large scale interactive mural inspired by Roker Pier lighthouse.  Using a dedicated AR app visitors add their memories to virtual bottles of light.  Utilising real-time technologies, these memories and bottles glow when lightning strikes the earth globally.
